Archive of Public Documents
Although these documents are public domain, and are theoretically available to every citizen who wishes to see them, obtaining these documents from the Georgia Tech Administration has brought what the Executive Secretary of the Georgia Conference of the AAUP labeled “severe retaliation”.
In order that other colleagues may see these records without suffering such retributions, we are posting an initial selection of documents that may be of interest to members of the department. These documents are currently not posted directly on our website, but the URL will be posted in the faculty lounge of the Georgia Tech School of Mathematics. Suggestions for further postings may be sent to: staff@motherfunctor.org.
If other campus units wish to have similar postings maintained by MotherFunctor.org, please contact us as well. All personal information will be kept confidential.
Current Postings
1. SOM Salary Raise Plans 2002-present.
These raise plans give a good indication of administrative"flexibility" at Georgia Tech. Note that one senior full professor's 9-month salary, during these years of relatively tight budgets, rose only from $51,600 to $56,182, in spite of the fact that he won a National Science Foundation Research Grant during that period. On the other hand, another professor, who had never advised a single Ph.D. thesis student through to completion, saw an increase in his 9-month salary that period from $74,750 to $173,400. Not to worry -- the Administrators who made those decisions are not responsible for paying his salary for the next 15-20 years -- that, they left up to the Georgia taxpayers.
2. FY06 SOM Budget.
Under pressure (see Body of Evidence), previous Chairs finally agreed to make the School Budget available for review by any faculty member who wanted to see it. In practice, however, MF staff had to resort to use of the Open Records Act to release those records.
3. Five-year evaluation of previous SOM Chair.
Heard about the Good Old Days under the previous Chair? Read this.
4. Most recent Internal Audit of the SOM.
5. Most recent SOM Chair's secret list of SOM "stars".
Did the Salary and Awards Committee agree to this?
6. Recent Dean's Office evaluation of Current Chair.
SOM Chairs not only unilaterally decide annual performance evaluations of professors, but also are privy to past annual evaluations, even for periods before the Chair arrived on campus. MF feels that rank-and-file faculty members should also be able to see the Chair's own evaluations.
7. Exceptional raises for current SOM Chair's Associate Chairs. (Coming Soon)
It pays to play ball with the Georgia Tech administration.
